About Us
İke was founded in 2024 by close friends Zeynep and Eslem.
Among thousands of messages and phone calls, they kept returning to that old question: “What are you reading?”

OUR PHILOSOPHY
What Is İke?
İke takes its name from the first principle of Huna philosophy: “The world is as you think it is.” This principle reminds us that the way we perceive and make sense of the world is shaped by our thoughts. We believe every text, in the same way, gains new meaning through the different perspectives brought to it.
The spiral in our logo symbolizes this idea: our shared journey, deepening and expanding with every reading, reaching new layers of meaning.
On this journey we come together on the last Saturday of every month; we examine the author’s world of thought, the book’s context and its layers together, turning each book into a shared experience of discovery and reflection through discussions and workshops.
PROCESS
How We Proceed
- 01 Announcement On the first day of the month, we announce that month’s book on Instagram.
- 02 Reading Everyone reads at their own pace; notes and passages circulate in the chat group.
- 03 Preparation We research the author’s world of thought, the movement they belong to and their other works; we also watch any film adaptations.
- 04 The Gathering On the last Saturday of the month at 16:00, we meet in a calm venue.
- 05 The Discussion From the author’s world to the main themes, then to character analyses — we move layer by layer through probing questions.
- 06 Reflection After each discussion we reflect briefly among ourselves, and shape the next gathering accordingly.

We prioritize books at the intersection of anthropology and psychology — ones with strong discussion potential that activate different ways of thinking. We also follow globally discussed contemporary works, such as Yellowface and Intermezzo. We try to keep a balanced variety of genre and geography.
Of course you can come — but we recommend reading the book so you can fully enjoy the discussion.
Absolutely. Most of our members joined the club on their own — meeting new people is part of the experience.
No — alongside the discussion, we put together a zine every month, exchange letters, and occasionally host workshops.
